The colour of tea by Hannah Tunnicliffe

“Grace’s life is unravelling. She feels lost in eclectic, buzzing Macau, where her husband Pete is managing the opening of a casino. Devastated that her dream to have children is cut short, her marriage becomes strained and their sadness remains unsaid, causing them to drift further away from each other. During celebrations for Chinese New Year, Grace watches the fireworks and an idea is sparked. She’ll turn her love and memories of Parisian “macarons” into the opening of her cafe, Lillian’s. For ex-pats, drinking “real” coffee is a godsend, for others, it is tea and sympathy that bring them back. With a much-needed focus and newly found friends, there’s now a reason for Grace to get up each morning — until Pete tells her news that will tear at her heart.”

Ohhh don’t you just love the cover of this book!!! When I saw this cover in the publisher’s list that came to work my first thought was I must have this book, then when I read the blurb the ‘tick’ when straight in the box.

This was such a great book. As I sat reading this book during my lunch break at work I felt as though I was there in Macau sitting in Grace’s cafe eating macaroon after macaroon. Each chapters title is the name of a new macaroon – torture I tell you!!

You won’t be disappointed with this book – a real good ‘chick’ read! 🙂

Is there anyone out there?? lol Wouldn’t be surprised if you have all given up on me.

Anyways, I have had a bit of an idea floating around in the my head for awhile and am thinking of making this wee blog of mine a bit of a book review blog – hence the name change!

Since becoming a librarian nearly a year ago I have been reading HEAPS of books and I thought I should share them with you out in blog land.

So keep your eyes peeled first one coming soon 🙂

It’s just a number

I’ve had two people say this too me in the last couple of days – right after I’ve said “I’m getting old!”

It’s funny I have never really worried about having a birthday and turing another year ‘younger’ but this year with my birthday fast approaching I don’t feel too happy about it. Maybe it’s because there is a ‘5’ at the end of this one and it means that I am getting closer to an ‘0’ birthday? I don’t know what it is but I feel kinda weird about it.

Oh well whatcha gonna do about it. As a good friend put it to me today – 30’s are great because you have so much more confidence in yourself than you had it your 20’s. You say ‘yes my butt is bigger’ but I don’t care who is looking at it as I shake in on the dance floor! lol (And then you fall off the swiss ball!!) Don’t ask!

I’m going to approach this new chapter of my life with my head held high, with a strong confidence that He has plan for me (I just wish I knew what the plan was) and that if all else fails I can get on the dance floor and shake my groove thing!

Right moving on. I’ve been scrapping up a storm – but I can’t show you anything 🙂 just yet. Good things come to those who wait!

Real life – day three

Opps a bit of a delay for day three – I forgot all about it last night.

Well yesterday we saw the sun!! Oh yes we did – very exciting! lol I tell you the weather down here is crazy. So I had to take a photo of this.

Yes it is washing hanging on the line in the sunshine. Not all that exciting for you but very exciting for me!!

The girls have been spending a lot of time in here after I found a bag of sand. Man they play the funniest games!

Last night in between watching LOST (which was the craziest episode ever – what the heck is going on!?!?!?) I was looking through my albums from when I was on my OE. Ohh some funny, funny photos. Lots of awesome memories from the free & single days!!

Right today is a very special day. It is my parents 37th Wedding Anniversay!! WTG Mum & Dad. It is also my nephews 3rd birthday – Happy, Happy Birthday gorgeous boy. And it is also my good friends Jan & Andy’s wee boy Alex’s 2nd birthday. So lots of celebrating going on arounnd the country today. Me on the other hand has to clear my study desk of all the crap sitting on it & get myself back into study mode. Oh the joy!
